How it works

We hold Repair Café events periodically.  Bring your broken things and work with our repair volunteers to assess what it would take to repair them.  You can work with our volunteers to do the repairs yourself (with their guidance) or have them tackle the job directly.  With luck, you’ll walk away with a once-again useful item and some knowledge of how to repair other things in your universe.  For more information, click the button below.

Our Partners and Sponsors

The generous support by local business and resources have enabled us to host our events.  We are deeply indebted to three organizations in particular:

The Museum of American Heritage
MOAH has provided us with the perfect venue for hosting a Repair Café.  MOAH staff and board members have been instrumental in helping us launch and grow this community event.

Hassett Hardware
Hassett Hardware (formerly Palo Alto Ace Hardware) is the ideal partner for the Repair Café.  The store has offered enthusiastic staff and supplies for both the planning and execution of our Repair Café events.

Zero Waste Palo Alto
Zero Waste Palo Alto’s mission is to help the community reach its Zero Waste goal of virtually eliminating waste being burned or buried.  ZWPA supports the Repair Café through generous Waste Reduction Project Fund grants and on-going community outreach.

We also are actively supported by the following groups:

Peet's Coffee & Teas and the House of Bagels
Both Peet's and the House of Bagels generously donate coffee, bagels and supplies to our Repair Café events.  Please show your appreciation to them for their contributions!

Transition Palo Alto
Transition Palo Alto is part of a world-wide grassroots movement to build local resilience and connections close to home. Since 2010, we’ve been mounting creative and thoughtful responses to the challenges of resource depletion, climate change, and economic instability.
